My 2nd painting completed back in 2011 when I first picked up the paint brush and found such freedom in creativity and art is, appropriately, Number 2 pencils. I remember my dad's old desk with my favorite pencils sitting atop. That was my inspiration for this piece, using oil paints on canvas, framed in wooden rulers and completed with a floating frame.

This style of art is best described as conceptual assemblage with elements of pop art and surreal minimalism. The piece features a measured, geometric arrangement of painted pencils framed within actual rulers, blending painting with found objects for a clever, witty presentation. Playful and slightly surreal, the disproportionate pencil lengths and their alignment hint at abstract ideas about growth, limitation, and creativity.

If this piece touches you in some way, I would love to pass it on to you and your home.
